Fountain Valley Conduit The Fountain Valley Conduit begins at Pueblo Dam and ends near Academy Boulevard about 2 miles south of Colorado Springs. The conduit conveys approximately 20,100 acre-feet of project water annually to the communities of Stratmoor Hills, Widefield, Security, and Fountain. The Fountain Valley Conduit is 45 miles long and ranges from a 42-inch to a 14-inch-diameter conduit. It has five pumping plants, two regulating tanks, two surge tanks, and four terminal tanks. The capacity is 31 cfs. The Fountain Valley Authority supplies supplemental water to their customers (the cities of Fountain, Security, Widefield, Colorado Springs, Stratmoor Hills). The Authority has a finished reservoir that holds 3 million gallons and a forebay that holds 1.1 million gallons. From these storage facilities the water is sent to a treatment plant then sent to their customers daily. Click here to return to SECWCD History. |
